Veterinary Medicine
Open House Set
On April 12 the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting an open house.  This is held every two years.  The day's events will feature a police dog demonstration, "Ice" the trick horse, draft horse demonstration, cat show, and the Stillwater Kennel Club Obedience demonstration.  Tours of the college are available by appointment. You may call our office at 746-3721 to find out if we have room left for the 12:45 appointment.  Otherwise call(405) 744-6961 to schedule an appointment for your group.

Tulsa State Fair
Scholarship Opportunity
The Tulsa State Fair (TSF) Ringmasters have arranged for a $1000 scholarship to be awarded to an individual who has participated in the Junior Livestock program at least once during the last five years.  Application are due May 1.  You can download it from our web site.

Tulsa County Junior Livestock Board Selected
On Tuesday, March 11, a room full of people met at the OSU Extension center to select the leadership for the 4-H and FFA county livestock shows in Tulsa County.

Roger Strong, newly elected president, said, "The Tulsa County Spring and Fall Livestock shows are our shows.  It is up to us to make them a positive and worthwhile experience for the kids.  Each show must build on its strengths and improve where it can."

Thanks, 4-H Volunteers!
4-H wouldn't be 4-H without the volunteer leadership we enjoy!  The month of April is designated as National Volunteer Month, and April 27--May 3 is National Volunteer Week. 

We invite everyone who can to join us on: 

  • Monday, April 28, 9:30 a.m.
  • Tulsa County Courthouse, room 119
  • Proclamation recognizing 4-H volunteers

Our volunteers are always giving of themselves,  it's your turn to give something back.  Approximately 150 volunteers serve the Tulsa County 4-H program .
Volunteers make our world a better place--it's an All American Attitude.

SCHOLARSHIP TIPS AND HINTS

It's the time of year that all graduating seniors should be applying for scholarships.  There are 4-H scholarships that range from $500 to $1500 that are available to Tulsa County 4-H members.  To apply for  scholarships you should:

  • Pick up a scholarship application from the 4-H office.  If you want an electronic copy, you can request that too.  Also, you can download a hard copy from the Tulsa County OSU Extension web site:  tulsacounty.org.  Go to the e-forms section.
  • Review the objectives and eligibility requirements for the specific scholarship.  Take the time to make a quality application and apply

only for those scholarships that really fit your personal goals.

  • Make sure you include all required information.  You must have a transcript and letter of reference from a school official.  These are due no later than April 28.
  • Find out how much college or post-graduate education is going to cost.  The more specific you are on the application, the better.
  • If you need help with these, please call Tracy or Charlotte and schedule an appointment. 
  • Once your have this information, apply for other scholarships!  Go to fastweb.com and get on their list.  Many deadlines are coming soon!  Make your 4-H work, work for you!
