School Enrichment Here's an opportunity to enhance your student's classroom experience through free or low-cost hands-on materials. Developed by Extension faculty at Oklahoma State University, these school enrichment programs allow classroom teachers to:
Some programs require a nominal supply fee. For order forms, call 918.746.3709. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet Pals - Grades K-4 The Teacher/Helpers guide includes 14 lessons/activities to involve your classroom with pet experiences. These include Pets on Parade which could use stuffed animals if you have classroom restrictions; Pets A - Z; Playing Pet Bingo; and Pet Trivia. Supplies are provided for the Pet Trivia Game. This is a great way to help your students learn about pets and their care. Cost is $15. Exploring Farm Animals - Grades K-3 The curriculum provides activities, ideas and content to help you expose your students to Farm Animals. The activities teach students about farm animals but do not require farm animals be available. Also included is a video with farm animals. Your students will also explore by-products of farm animals. This is a great way to let your students learn that not a day goes by without agriculture. Copies of Billy’s Day Without Agriculture is also provided for your students. Cost is $15. Down to Earth Gardening - Grades 6-8 Available in February and March. For GRADES 6 - 8! Includes a complete teacher’s guide. Perfect for Life Science and Earth Science! Materials are provided for 3 hands-on lessons including “From the Ground Up”, Soil Sleuths, and Skin Deep. Cost is $15. Beginning of Life Chick Embryo Project - Grades 4 and up Students learn how the life cycle works by incubating and hatching eggs. This 21-day project is cross-curricular and can be incorporated into science, language arts and math curriculum. Cost is $15 per unit, which includes an air forced incubator, auto-turner and eggs. Instructors also receive a teacher's guide and attend an orientation session. Please send this completed form with payment to: Chrissy L. Character Critters - Grades Pre-school - K Character Critters is a story and activity approach to teaching character to preschool and kindergarten children and their parents. The program teaches six concepts of character: responsibility, trustworthiness, respect, caring, fairness, and citizenship. Classroom teachers are trained to use the curriculum effectively. The cost for curriculum and supporting materials has not yet been determined. Ag in the Classroom - Grades K-6 The OSU Cooperative Extension Service, Department of Education and Department of Agriculture have teamed up to bring you Ag in the Classroom. Helping Oklahoma school children understand the importance of agriculture in their daily lives - from the food they eat and the clothes they wear to its impact on Oklahoma's history and economy - educational materials are provided free of charge to each elementary school in the state. Curriculum for grades K-2; 3-4; and 5-6 can be found in your school's library. If your school does not have this material, please contact Charlotte Richert, 4-H extension educator, at 918.746.3721 to obtain your supplies.
